We purchased our dream home in the lanark highlands. It is an open concept log home, built on a cliff. We knew that during the spring and fall water runs through and under slab of our basement, we were advised it would not affect the structural integrity of our home before purchasing. It became apparent once fall came that if any of our pumps failed we would have water in our basement. We hired an engineer and geotech, in hopes to divert the water from our foundation. We were then told to hire an excavation company to hoeram the rock around the rear and 2 sides of our home. We were given 3 quotes from separate company’s, the lowest quote being $78,000.00, and no company able to gaurentee success or willing to be liable for anything unforeseen. We then were given the name of a smaller company specializing in waterproofing and difficult structural repairs, we contacted a foundations, and the gentleman came for a site visit, I could tell from his demeanour he was confident in his work and not concerned with any of the difficulties. He gave us a quote of $28,000.00 and guaranteed to the water from coming into our basement, and under our slab. They excavated the back, and both side walls of our foundation to the underside of footing. They sealed the bedrock to the footing, the footing to the foundation wall, and the wall to grade and then back filled with clear stone.
